Anxiety

There's a lot that can be done to reduce these unwanted feelings. Anxiety blocks us from living the life we want to live. Get in touch to find out what can be done to help you get back on track.

Taking the first step to start therapy is often a big decision. Many people make a mistake in thinking that they should wait until they are in a crisis situation, before going to therapy, but it's often better to get help before you reach this point.

I'm John, a psychotherapist based in Sheffield, S10. I'm a registered member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists, and I'm fully insured to carry out my work.

Being an empathetic person, and a good listener; I will use my skills to deliver a person centred approach, where we'll work together on the goals that you choose to work on. I currently practice from The Practice rooms in BroomhilI, Sheffield (S10) which provides a calm, safe space where we can talk about whatever you want to address. I am able to work with a range of issues to help you move past the barriers you may face in life, and towards your goals.

I am able to work with:

  • Worry/Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Stress

  • Getting your life back on track

  • Grief and Bereavement

  • Work related problems

  • Dealing with antagonistic personality styles

  • Shyness

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • Panic Attacks

  • Agoraphobia

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Social Anxiety Disorder

and many of life's other various challenges.

The type of psychotherapy that I practice is centred around working with the client's goals. I primarily work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques (CBT). My practice and training does also draw on some psychoanalytic techniques, which I may also use in our sessions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence based approach. This has two meanings; firstly that Cognitive Behavioural techniques themselves are supported by a strong scientific evidence base. Secondly, while we work together, I will also have ways to evidence the changes that you are personally making, during the therapeutic process.

Whilst working with you I will be calm, relaxed, and will always be accepting of your individuality, and the particular ways in which you choose to live your life.

My preferred pronouns are He / him / his
