Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in Sheffield, UK.
Many people seek out the services of a psychotherapist when they want help with a specific psychological, or behavioural disorder. Although psychotherapists are trained to deal with a variety of mental health issues, it's not strictly true that this is all we do. Many people choose to access the services of a therapist when faced with one of the many problems, or tragedies that life can throw their way.
People can be severely affected by life events such as, separation from their partners, being separated from their families, bereavement, the loss of a job, or important life role. Some people may struggle with performance at work, feeling excessively stressed all the time, they might struggle to relax, or to get a good nights sleep. Many people find themselves in an abusive intimate relationship, or involved with a toxic circle of friends, whom don't have their best interests at heart. Whatever the problem, talking to the right person can cut the problem in half.
Although talking it through can be cathartic in its own right, there are a range of techniques that can also help to decrease life's negative effects; as well as helping us to take advantage of the many positive opportunities that life has to offer.
As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), I am trained to help with a range of anxiety, and mood disorders such as, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobia's, Panic Attacks, and Agoraphobia; Depression, low mood, and excessive stress.
